Scouting Evaluations:
QMJHL: Kabanov vs Galiev
Talent Analysis: immensely talented player with tons of skills and excellent exciting player to watch...a fantastic skater with that kind of agility needed to beat defensemen in one-on-one situations...great wrist shot and scoring skills...good passing play, but this isn't his possess of a great technique, but needs to bulk up to translate his game to the pro level...needs to play harder in the own zone...needs to focus on his on-ice play and get rid of some off ice antics...
Back In Russia:
Kirill Kabanov is a product of the Spartak Moscow hockey school and played there up to Summer 2009, when he moved to Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL after a scandal concerning a possible move to Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the KHL. His 2009-10 year was a rocky one as after a long wrist injury he experienced two kicks (from Moncton and from team Russia at the U18) and finally he was left by his agent.
NHL Outlook:
Kirill Kabanov is a great talent, but he needs to stay off trouble and avoid scandals in order to enjoy a great career. He will most likely drop a lot on this draft, but a team will surely be willing to gamble a rather high pick on such a talented player. projected pick: late 1st/early 2nd round
